I recently acquired a Kodascope Miniature Motion Picture Machine M1. I've looked online to see if I could fine any other information on it other than it's from the 1920s. The only two that I found were just pictures mostly of people selling theirs. Mine has the original wooden carrying case but came with a small color wheel (one like was with the old aluminum Christmas trees). It attaches to the front of the lens on the outside. The cord has a couple of places where the fabric is frayed, but I think the actual electrical wire inside is still intact. I plugged it in and it still runs and the light bulb still works. The motor is very noisy. Does anyone know if there is still a users guide/manual around? I would like to replace the cord and where I can get the fabric cord from? Any other information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

There is no such thing as an M1 (that designation being on the motor, not the projector). What you have is a Kodascope Model A. I'm not sure where to locate a manual, but Pacific Rim Camera often posts scanned manuals on facebook. You might ask them. Address to Mike Otto at Pacific Rim. A search on Yahoo or Google should bring them up. The drive is probably noisy because it uses a grooved rubber friction roller to drive a bronze flywheel. The rubber is usually distorted from sitting in one place for years. I know of a few people who have removed the rubber roller and turned it smooth on a lathe, but it should work well enough as is. You can order fabric covered cord online.
