What do I have? Throw away / Recycle?

Hello, folks.  I am a new member and I am turning to this forum for answers and/or opinions on an apparent older camera that I got from my apartment building community room.  We have people who occassionally give things away or sit them in our community room for others to help themselves to.  I'm curious as to what I have here.  It just looks and feels interesting in the hands...a nice piece of equipment.  Thanks in advance for any help.

I have no idea what I have here. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I see no brand, the leather is dried and has shrunk. All I have is a serial number...154517
If I can figure out images I will post pictures. Value? Time frame? Anything helps!
